The Sokoke is a slender, elegant, long-legged cat built for movement. Its defining feature is the coat: very short and close-lying, in a distinctive ticked brown tabby pattern, sometimes described as looking like tree bark or wood grain, which gives it a natural, wild camouflage. The whole cat has a poised, athletic, alert quality, moving with an unusual, almost tiptoeing gait.
